Ep. 21 - Pawnee And Early Spaniards

How the Pawnee effectively kept the Spanish conquistadors out of the Great Plains

1540 - Coronado encounters the ancestral Pawnee and is met with “ferocious resistance.”

1720 - Villasur encounters the Pawnee and Otoe and is badly defeated. A record of this battle was painted on eight buffalo hides, on display at the New Mexico History Museum.
